Player awards

Coaches’ Player of the Season – Will Dennis

Announced and presented by Pete Lucock, Head Coach, and Mark Puleikis (Titan Wealth)

We hadn’t had a lot out of Will for the previous two seasons. When he was in the team you knew exactly what he offered – he was a level above National League 2. Coming into this year, we got a lot more of him. We relied on him. He’s worked hard. His temper could sometimes come out the wrong way, but it came from caring. He definitely drives standards in the group.

“We had three in the running for this. Connor Walker – you know exactly what you are going to get from him. He turns up and does his job. We can rely on him. Ben Dixon – when we lost Adam (Brown) to injury, we lost our caption. Dicco that void, like Connor, the coached can ask him to do something and he’ll deliver. He doesn’t speak that much, but he knows when to speak and he leads by his actions.”

Players’ Player of the Season – Alex Pleasants

Announced by James Phillips, Forwards Coach

“This is the best acolade you can get as a player, to be respected by your peers. They’re the ones who have made the call and know you’ve done the business on the pitch. After a slow start to the season, Alex stepped up in a big way, going on to start every game and play virtually every minute. From that point on, he didn’t just find form – he dominated. Week in, week out, he set the standard. An absolute beast when it mattered, delivering the kind of performances that earn respect from those alongside him – exactly what this award represents.”

Keith Howard Spirit of the Tykes Award – Dave Lowther

Announced and presented by Gary Hetheringon, President, Leeds Tykes

“There are countless contributions made to a club that go unseen, both on and off the field, and this award recognises those who give so much without seeking recognition. Dave Lowther is exactly the kind of person Keith Howard had in mind when this award was created. Dave has been part of Leeds Tykes for over 40 years – from his playing days in the 1970s through to the 1990s, to coaching within the academy, and now as the club’s fourth official. He continues to play a vital role behind the scenes, supporting matchdays, managing kit and keeping everything running smoothly. A constant presence, a trusted figure, and a true servant of the club – this recognition is richly deserved.

“A calm, consistent presence at fly-half, Eddie Crossland settled quickly and became a trusted leader, playing every minute (bar 10-minutes for a technical yellow card) and removing any doubt around the 10 shirt. Composed under pressure with a strong kicking game and smart decision-making, he controlled matches with ease – earning high praise from supporters watching week-in-week-out and first-time watchers alike.”

Young Player of the Season – Seth Eley

Announced by Jack Moran, Defence Coach

“He’s got no ego about him. He’s totally coachable. He was thrown in at the deep end at the 11th hour and rose to the challenge and continued to do so thoroughout the season – tremendously well. What’s most exciting, though, is that there’s still more to come.”
