Andy Hindle sadly passed away in his sleep on Tuesday 7 April. Born in Rochdale in his beloved county of Lancashire in January 1944 he spent many years in Yorkshire living in more recently in Nunnington, Ripon and Harrogate.
For many years he has travelled extensively following his main sporting passions of cricket and rugby union where he had an encyclopedic knowledge of the game. It is no surprise to know that he played in the front row including Huddersfield. He became an avid supporter and sponsor of Leeds Tykes from the early days and also followed Northampton Saints. He loved Ireland, having lived in Cork for a while and had so many long-term friends from the Emerald Isle. Andy’s also included involvement in the management of West Hartlepool when they played in the first division, but not a subject he used to dwell on.
Summers over the last few years were spent at Old Trafford and many county grounds around the country with Taunton, Southport, Durham and Canterbury regularly on the list. He was a proud MCC member attending several of the test matches each year. He was probably present when Jimmy Anderson took most of his wickets for England but may have been distracted by the lunch and tea hospitality breaks, but will have caught up later with the Sky replays.
He was great company.
His funeral is on Tuesday 28 April at 12:00, Stonefall Crematorium HG3 1DE.
