Rob Rawlinson has joined Leeds Tykes as Consultant Scrum Coach. He re-joins the Tykes where he was hooker from 1999 until 2010. Rob helped us win the 2004–05 Powergen Cup, in which he was a replacement at the final. Since his retirement in 2010 from a neck injury, Rob has worked at Queen Ethelburga’s Collegiate, where, currently, he is Head of Sport.

As well as Head Coach and Director of Rugby at the collegiate, Rob has been scrum and forwards coach at Harrogate RUFC.

He said: “I am delighted to be re-joining the club where I hold such fond memories. The players and coaches that I have played alongside, the people that put so much work in and off the field and the loyal supporters, are what make our club so special and I am desperate for it to regain its status as an elite level organisation.

“That said, we have an awful lot of work to do before that dream can become reality, but I am hugely excited about the group of players we have and what they can go on to achieve next season and beyond.”

Commenting on Rob joining the coaching team, Jon Callard, Director of Rugby, said:: “Leeds Tykes is delighted to welcome back one of its own, Rob Rawlinson, Rawly.

“Rawly has agreed to be the Tykes’ Consultant Scrum Coach for the forthcoming season. His scrum work has wrecked many an ear, all for the cause of a solid platform up front!

“Personally, I am delighted as he offers so much more than developing good scrummaging people, he develops good people full stop. His passion, his enthusiasm and his thirst for development will be essential for us at Tykes to create greater things.”
